Kids' workshops on Colombian language and culture
We’re thrilled to announce the next cycle of kids’ workshops for Colombian children living in London. The free programme will take place on Saturdays from 20th April to 20th July, and will focus on language and culture. The kids will participate in workshops on Indigenous cultures, celebrations, food, myths and games.
The workshops are part of our Colombia Colores project, our first London-based initiative. The workshops aim to share the richness of Colombian culture with Colombian-born, as well as second and third-generation, Colombian children.
The workshops are open to kids aged 5-12. They’ll take place on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre. They’re divided according to the children’s age: 11am to 12pm for 5 to 8 year olds, and 12pm to 1pm for 9 to 12 year olds.
About the Colombia Colores project
This project arose after the Colombian community in London expressed a need to offer regular workshops on Colombian culture for their children. We hope to educate them on meaningful parts of their culture, and also to encourage them to feel connected to the community.
These free-to-attend sessions are taking place over the span of the 2023-2024 academic year, split into three cycles. The City Bridge Trust and the Colombian Consulate in London are our partners for the project.
