Sponsor a Student

We are looking for 16 ‘Education Angels’ to sponsor students from rural regions of Colombia to attend university on a full scholarship.

According to the OECD, in Colombia it takes 11 generations, or 330 years, to escape poverty. In the United Kingdom it takes just 5. The best way to break this malicious cycle is to equip young people with the necessary knowledge to access better job opportunities.

We’re committed to supporting rural education, and have been working in Chocó and la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta for over five years to improve educational opportunities. We are now extending this to the university level.

Our new scholarship programme

Thanks to our new alliances with Politécnico Grancolombiano and Fundación Universitaria del Area Andina, we are able to provide students with full scholarships to study bachelor’s degrees. As part of this funding, the students will also receive personal computers, an internet allowance, money to visit the university campus, and psychosocial support to help them to succeed through their five years of study.

Currently, four of the brightest students from our Education, Livelihoods, and Entrepreneurship’ project have been offered scholarships.

We are looking for 16 Education Angels to sponsor this initiative, so that we can provide the students with incredible opportunities.

How to get involved

We are looking for 16 Education Angels to sponsor our first four scholarship students. The sponsors would need to commit to supporting a student with £30 a month, ideally for the full 5 years of their studies. As one of our Education Angels, you will receive a progress report from your student each semester, and you will also have the opportunity to mentor them if you wish.

This is a truly life changing opportunity. Sponsorship from just four Angels would enable a student to fulfil their dreams and create a brighter future for themselves and their community.
