London, 28th of June 2025: The ‘Colombia Colores’ project, a vibrant initiative by Children Change Colombia (CCC), continues to lighten up Saturdays and school holidays with music, movement, and community spirit for Colombian children and families living in London. Designed to celebrate and strengthen cultural identity, ‘Colombia Colores‘ offers a joyful and immersive experience where children explore Colombian heritage through singing, storytelling, traditional music, dance, and play.
Testimonies from parents/ overheard:
- “Mamá, por favor tráeme aquí!” (about wanting to go to Children Change Colombia”
- “Saturday is also for football, which he really loves – but my son insisted we come here.”
But it also offers parents a deep sense of connection. My observation: “You can also see the parents get excited to see each other, Colombia Colores feels like one big family.”

Last Saturday 28th of June marked a particularly special gathering about sustainability as ‘Colombia Colores’ collaborated with “The Sustainability Workgroup” of the program Colombia Nos Une. The workshop was called “Guardianes de azul y verde” (Engl: Guardians of the Earth and the Sea) and was all about sustainability.
The children were treated to a performance by the Colombian songwriter and performer ‘Montañera’ with the show “El Viaje de la Anaconda Dorada”. The Journey of the Golden Anaconda is a journey with songs for children, an artistic exploration through mountains, jungles, rivers, snow-capped peaks and mountain ranges, showcasing the amid the cultural and natural diversity of Colombia. The children really enjoyed this journey of the Anaconda, and danced and sang along. María Mónica is also the pedagogical coordinator of the project.

The day continued with delicious food prepared by the Sustainability Workgroup (Mesa de Sostenibilidad) volunteers. After the shared meal, the space came alive with an electrifying session led by Somos Chibchas, who invited everyone into a vibrant world of rhythm and movement. This was the moment the energy reached its peak: laughter, movement, and music filled the room, creating a true fiesta atmosphere.
Through movement, song, and drumming, children were reminded of our deep connection to nature, learning to listen to the voice of the ocean and to care for its waters with love and respect. ‘Colombia Colores’ is more than an event, it’s a space where children celebrate their roots, develop confidence in their cultural identity, and form lasting friendships. And the fun doesn’t stop here.
